Red, White, Blue And Silver: Where To Spend The Fourth Of July

Celebrate America’s 242nd birthday the right way – in the right city. Wear your red, white, and blue with pride as you drive your Silvercar and explore all that these four cities have to offer this July Fourth.

Denver just can’t wait for the Fourth of July, so they get a head start on celebrating. For the past nine years, Denver has celebrated ‘Independence Eve’ on July 3 in downtown’s Civic Center Park. Starting at 8pm over 3,000 fireworks will be set off in sync with music from the 101st Army Band. The event starts at 4 pm, giving you time to grab a seat – its first-come, first-served – and enjoy a variety of food trucks as well as a beer and wine garden.

New York City

Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and Keith Urban will be performing at the 42nd annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. This year’s firework show is set to be Macy’s largest since 2000, so head over to the East River in Midtown Manhattan and take in the sights! During the day, rent from one of our four locations in New York City and travel to Coney Island to watch the annual Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

San Diego

Put on that American flag swimsuit and check out San Diego’s beaches this July Fourth. Home to thousands of service members, San Diego has one of the best and largest firework shows in the country. Since 2001 nearly half a million people have lined the beaches to watch the Big Bay Boom. The show starts at 9 pm when four barges spread across the water will launch fireworks and light up the sky.

Washington D.C.

Of course our nation’s capital found its way onto this list. Beginning at 10 a.m. head on over to the steps at Constitution Avenue for the Declaration of Independence Reading Ceremony. And at 11:45 am the National Independence Day Parade kicks off. During the evening drive on down to the Capitol’s West Lawn in your Silvercar for a free concert by the National Symphony Orchestra followed by fireworks.
